I would like to express our thanks to our members who have recommended our speaker and have provided the introduction to the University Club.
Until last year, our April Luncheon has traditionally been scheduled for the Monday of DAR Week. This year, since DAR Week has been moved to July, we have scheduled our dinner for Saturday, April 12, 2003.
The annual meeting of the Colonial Dames 17th Century should be complete by Saturday afternoon and we particularly encourage all members and guests of the Colonial Dames to attend our dinner. We also welcome those who are not members of our Society. We remind our members and friends that April is a particularly beautiful time to visit Washington, D.C. If you would like to receive an invitation please let us know by calling our office or sending an e-mail.
More Video on the Magna Charta Website from the 2001 Tour and the Luncheon Speeches from 1998, 1999 and 2001
We are continuing the process of bringing outstanding educational video concerning the Magna Charta. As part of this process we are pleased to bring the 1998 Washington DC Luncheon speech presented by James Humes, Esquire OBE, the 1999 Washington DC Luncheon speech presented by Dr. Ray Raymond OBE and the 2001 Washington DC Luncheon speech presented by Arabella Churchill. While we have already included the text of Arabella's speech on the website, the video provides an additional perspective. This format is Real Video and works with a dial up modem, however, it will probably work much better with a higher speed internet connection. The video can be found using the page: http://www.magnacharta.org/videoDCLunches.htm.
We have also included an excellent video from our 2001 June Tour or http://www.magnacharta.org/video/200125.rm
For the past ten years I have video taped many of the meetings of our Society as well as our Educational Tours. In addition to preserving the information it should be relatively easy to provide streaming video accessible through our Website. The video from the Exhibit Opening, referred to in our January Newsletter, as well as these Luncheon Speeches is just the beginning and streaming video should dramatically improve with emerging technology. I believe that this medium will be an excellent way to enhance our Educational Mission. In addition, I encourage members of our Divisions, Chapters and Colonies to video presentations at their meetings.
